Police Nab 10 Suspects Connected to State Farm Robberies: Investigations revealed a collaboration between the cattle dealers and workers at the State farm in orchestrating the theft of cows.
A coordinated effort involving the Flying Squad Unit (FSU) alongside territorial teams from Katonga Region and Gomba CPS allowed the Uganda Police Force to successfully apprehended 10 suspects believed to be involved in the ongoing theft of cattle from the State Farm in Kirasi, Ddegeya parish, Maddu subcounty, Gomba district.
The arrests come following reports on March 29, 2024, around 10 am, when five cows were reported missing under suspicious circumstances from the farm. The matter was promptly reported to Kajumiro Police Post, prompting an investigation into the theft.
A task force comprising members from the FSU, dispatched from the Crime Intelligence Headquarters, took charge of the investigation. Their efforts led to the apprehension of Nyanzi Robert, a cattle dealer from Lwekibira village, who was identified as a buyer of stolen cows from the State farm. Subsequently, five other cattle dealers were also arrested: Aliho Frank, Tatuleka Fred, Tumusiime Godan, Kanyerezi Willy, and Gumisiriza Godfrey.
Additionally, four more suspects were apprehended on March 5, 2024, around 8 pm. Among them were Bazibumbira Wilson, a veterinary officer attached to the farm, Kirimunte Ronald, Byarugaba Matiya, and Gitta Ronald, the manager at the State Farm.
Investigations revealed a collaboration between the cattle dealers and workers at the State farm in orchestrating the theft of cows. The police emphasized their commitment to working alongside local partners to pursue all individuals involved in cattle theft from the State farm and dismantle their criminal operations.
The police lauded the continuous efforts of the Flying Squad teams and territorial units in Gomba for their role in uncovering and apprehending the suspects.
Spokesman Enanga reiterated the Uganda Police Force’s dedication to ongoing intelligence led operations to combat cattle theft and ensure the security of livestock in the region.
