The Uganda Police Force recently announced a traffic diversion plan in preparation for an upcoming event on June 3rd. Security agencies convened at the Anglican worship center to coordinate and address concerns regarding the event’s security. Following discussions, a decision was reached to implement traffic diversions, effective immediately, to ensure the safety and smooth flow of pedestrians and motorists in the Namugongo area.

The key changes outlined in the traffic diversion plan include the reservation of the road from Kyaliwajjala to Sonde exclusively for pedestrians. Motorists are advised to take alternative routes as follows:

  1. Motorists traveling on Seeta-Sonde Road will be diverted at the Catholic Mbalwa Road junction, leading them to exit at Agenda 2000.
  2. Motorists heading from Nalya to Kyaliwajjala will be redirected at the Kyaliwajjala junction, guiding them to use Semambro Road.
  3. Those driving from Kireka to Kyaliwajjala will be directed at Agenda 2000 to take Mbalwa Road instead.
  4. Motorists traveling from Jinja to the Capital City are instructed to proceed directly to the city center and avoid using Seeta-Namugongo Road. These diversions will remain in effect until June 3rd, 2024.

The Uganda Police Force encourages individuals to plan their journeys in advance, as traffic congestion is expected in the vicinity of Namugongo due to the event. While these diversions may cause inconvenience to some, the police apologized for any disruptions and assure the public that these measures are necessary to ensure the safety and security of all participants and commuters during the event.

Uganda Police Force Spokesperson Fred Onyango added that by implementing these traffic diversions, the Uganda Police Force aims to minimize congestion and facilitate the smooth movement of both pedestrians and motorists around the Namugongo area during the upcoming event.
