"I have been advised by many friends from abroad to vie for this position. The government supports me because my candidacy is for all of us Kenyans... not for any specific party," he affirmed.

The Kenya Kwanza Government has outlined plans to ensure that the leader of the One Kenya Alliance, Raila Odinga, secures the votes necessary to become the Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC).

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Head of the Cabinet, Musalia Mudavadi, stated on Wednesday that Mr. Odinga possesses extensive experience that could help bring about the necessary reforms within the AUC.

“We have a visionary leader capable of bringing about crucial reforms within the African Union (AU). Undoubtedly, he will aim to achieve success that aligns with the expectations of African nations. So far, our candidate has demonstrated significant potential for victory,” Mudavadi remarked.

In response, Mr. Odinga assured that if appointed, he would advise African nations to enhance cooperation, ranging from economic growth to transportation networks.

“In Europe, one needs only one permit to travel from one country to all other European Union (EU) nations. Here, if you travel from Kenya to Tanzania, you need a permit… if you go from Tanzania to Malawi, you need another permit,” Odinga stated.

The leader of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) emphasized that the position he seeks is for the African continent and not for political gain within the country.

“I have been advised by many friends from abroad to vie for this position. The government supports me because my candidacy is for all of us Kenyans… not for any specific party,” he affirmed.
