Lango paramount chief (Won Nyaci) of the Lango Cultural Foundation, Dr. Eng. Moses Michael Odongo Okune, has urged his subjects to maintain physical fitness. Dr. Okune was addressing over 200 people at the Mayor’s Garden in Lira City who turned up for an RHA run. He congratulated all participants for taking part in such a healthy run, which will in turn help them stay physically fit.
He also congratulated the mayor of Lira City for upgrading the city’s status compared to previous times. Additionally, he applauded Dr. Nathan Onyaci and the entire medical team for organizing the wonderful RHA Marathon 2024.
The Director of the Lango Regional Health Assembly stated that the marathon was organized by Lira Regional Referral Hospital in conjunction with other development partners within Lira City. Dr. Nathan Onyaci, Director of LRR Hospital, congratulated Won Nyaci-elect Dr. Eng. M.M. Odongo Okune and assured him that he will be able to lead the people of Lango effectively because of his capability and commitment.
“We are organizing the first medical assembly at Margarita Palace Hotel on the 4th-5th of July, 2024. We are here to treat you and to prevent diseases,” said Dr. Onyaci.
Mr. Ibrahim Mukamba, the Deputy Resident City Commissioner (RCC) of Lira City West Division, while addressing the media after the function in an exclusive interview, cautioned residents not to mishandle any of the processes of PDM. He mentioned that the Lango Regional Health Assembly was accompanied by several health service providers and included activities such as blood donation, HIV/AIDS counseling, TB screening, among others.
The theme for the marathon was “A Healthy Lango: Our Shared Role.” Lira City Mayor Sam Atul stated that two more district hospitals should be lobbied for from the government to reduce the overcrowding of patients at the Lira Regional Referral Hospital.
Certificates were awarded to companies and individuals who contributed to making the run a success. The event was attended by prominent Lango Cultural Foundation clan heads such as Geoffrey Etwop and Ogwang Edola Bosco, among others.
