Aceng Boosts Miss Tourism Northern Uganda with 1 Million Shilling Donation

Honorable Minister Dr. Jane Aceng Ocero, represented by Julie Opio, has supported the organizers of the Miss Tourism Northern Uganda event with a one million shilling contribution delivered in cash by Opio Julie on Saturday night. Julie Opio serves as the director of 291 Suites Hotel in Lira City, Odokomit, and Vince Tours Uganda.

St. Lira Hotel hosted the 12th edition of Miss Tourism Northern Uganda on Saturday, themed “Peace and Tourism.” The event was a grand affair, attended by several contestants, including Ms. Lakaraber Giovanna Kelsey. Gloria Alele, former Miss Tourism 2017, coordinated the event for Northern Uganda, receiving support from various individuals and businesses, including Julie Opio, who represented Lira City Woman MP Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero, also the Minister of Health.




Dr. Jane Aceng, through Julie Opio, expressed support for domestic tourism in the Lango sub-region, aiming to benefit local residents and boost businesses in the tourism sector and other related industries. Hon. Ruth Aceng believes that with proper management and promotion, tourism can flourish not only in the Lango sub-region but also across Northern Uganda and its surrounding areas, benefiting Uganda as a whole.




Minister Dr. Aceng Ocero made a generous contribution of one million UGX. Julie Opio, representing Dr. Jane, also pledged free accommodation for next year’s contestants at her hotel, known as 291 Suites.




The event highlighted more than just crowning a winner; it was a comprehensive showcase of the contestants’ intellect, awareness, character, goals, achievements, and future plans, demonstrated through performances in dance, poetry, and art.

Hon. Samuel Otto Odonga, former Aruu County MP and a philosopher, extended his gratitude to the event organizers. Several dignitaries attended the function, including Kilak South Member of Parliament Hon. Gilbert Olanya, Northern Uganda Youth MP Okot Boniface, Dr. Hon. Samuel Odonga Otto, and Lira City Mayor Sam Atul.
