The State House Comptroller, Ms. Jane Barakye, has called on Resident District Commissioners (RDCs) to assist in transporting students to their respective Industrial Hub Skilling Centres as the new recruitment semester begins. This directive is part of a broader effort to ensure that students can access the centres with ease and start their training without any hindrance.
This initiative, a presidential program, is designed to provide free technical and vocational training to underprivileged youth, regardless of their academic backgrounds. The program aims to empower young people with practical skills that can lead to employment or entrepreneurship opportunities. It focuses on various fields, including carpentry, welding, tailoring, agriculture, and more, based on the specific needs and industries prevalent in each region.
The initiative offers comprehensive support to participants, covering all costs associated with the training. This includes not only tuition and materials but also accommodation and bedding, ensuring that students can fully concentrate on their studies without financial strain.
Ms. Barakye emphasized the importance of this initiative in reducing youth unemployment and driving economic growth. She noted that collaboration between different government offices and local authorities is crucial to its success. “RDCs play a pivotal role in mobilizing local resources and ensuring that all logistics are in place for the smooth transportation of these students,” she stated.
Ms. Barakye’s call for support is expected to mobilize more local government involvement and bolster efforts to reach every corner of the country, ensuring that the initiative’s benefits are widespread and impactful.
