The National Youth Coordinator and Head of Political Mobilization in the Office of the Minister for the Presidency, Engineer Sewava, has proposed to the Speaker of Parliament that Members of Parliament (MPs) undertake a tour of the Presidential Industrial Skilling Hubs in Northern Uganda. Sewava, who also serves as a Special Assistant to the State House Comptroller, made this suggestion during the ongoing regional parliamentary sittings.
His proposal aims to leverage the presence of Parliament in the region to provide MPs with firsthand experience of the impact and operations of the Presidential Industrial Skilling Hubs. These hubs are designed to empower young people with vocational skills, enhance their employability, and promote economic growth across various sectors.
The initiative seeks to give lawmakers a closer look at how the hubs contribute to youth development and economic empowerment, allowing them to better understand the challenges and successes of these projects.
By engaging directly with the hubs, MPs can gain valuable insights that could inform future policies and programs targeting youth and industrial development.
The Speaker of Parliament has yet to formally respond to Sewava’s proposal. However, the suggested tour could serve as a critical opportunity to foster collaboration between Parliament and the executive in promoting youth skilling and industrial growth in the region.
