Couple Killed in Soroti City Road Accident

According to ASP Edison Obukulem, the Acting Public Relations Officer for the East Kyoga region, the case was reported to Soroti Central Police Station.

(Soroti) – A tragic accident on the Soroti-Mbale highway claimed the lives of two people riding a motorcycle after being struck by a speeding vehicle. The fatal crash occurred at 8:50 a.m. on Thursday, September 12, in Opuyo Ward, Soroti City East.

The vehicle involved, a white Toyota Hilux with registration number UBM 466C, was heading toward Mbale from Soroti City. It was driven by Stephen Mbogo, 37, when it collided with the motorcycle, tragically ending the lives of Jorem Ouchokol, 20, and his wife, Hellen Apio, 23, on the spot.




In addition to the two fatalities, the accident also left another couple injured. Augustine Amuriat Olupot, 23, and his wife, Melda Atekit, were rushed to Soroti Regional Referral Hospital for medical treatment. Their condition remains uncertain.




According to ASP Edison Obukulem, the Acting Public Relations Officer for the East Kyoga region, the case was reported to Soroti Central Police Station, where investigations are ongoing. The bodies of Ouchokol and Apio were transported to the mortuary for postmortem examinations.




Both the vehicle and the motorcycle were towed to Soroti Central Police Station as part of the ongoing investigation into the incident.
