Arua Police Reports Over 20 Fire Incidents in 2024

(Arua) – Since the beginning of the year, more than 20 fire incidents have been recorded at Arua Central Police Station, according to reports. The West Nile Regional Fire Prevention and Rescue Officer, Inspector of Police (IP) Michael Munguachiel, stated in an interview yesterday that the leading causes of these incidents are electrical short circuits and arson.

Police records indicate a significant number of fire incidents over recent months, which have prompted local authorities to shift their focus toward public education on fire safety. This proactive approach aims to reduce future fire related incidents by helping residents understand effective fire prevention measures.

According to IP Munguachiel, raising awareness in the community about fire prevention is now a primary goal. By providing guidance on safe electrical practices and the risks of arson, the police hope to prevent further incidents and improve overall safety in the area.
