(Wakiso) – A police sniffer dog led authorities to two men suspected of burglary and robbery in Wakiso District. The two men, armed with machetes, allegedly broke into a home in Katooke village, Nansana division, around 3 a.m. on Saturday. According to police, the suspects reportedly assaulted a female occupant and stole mobile phones and an unspecified amount of money.
Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire stated that a sniffer dog was deployed immediately, which quickly tracked down the suspects in the vicinity, leading to their arrest. To protect the investigation, police withheld the names of the suspects.
Owoyesigyire commended the quick response from the local police and thanked the community members who aided in the operation. Following the incident, police have increased patrols in the area and advised locals to remain vigilant.

Motorcycle Robbery
In a separate incident, police confirmed an aggravated motorcycle robbery in Ndese, Mukono District. Two armed suspects reportedly hired a boda boda rider as customers before assaulting him and taking his motorcycle (registration UFN 958R). The robbery occurred Thursday night around 11 p.m., and CCTV footage is being used to support the ongoing investigation.
Police have registered the case under Ref SD 03/26/10/2024 at Namaya Police Post and are urging the public to provide any information that may help track down the suspects. Owoyesigyire advised boda boda riders to be cautious, particularly during late-night hours.
Since the beginning of the year, police have investigated over 50 motorcycle theft cases in Mukono District, reinforcing the need for caution among riders.
