(Kampala) – AAR Insurance, Uganda’s pioneering medical insurance provider, marked its 40th anniversary in a ceremony held on October 31.
In a statement at the event, Christine Nassuna, Managing Director of AAR Insurance, described the anniversary as a significant achievement for the organization, which has grown despite the challenges faced by the insurance industry. “This 40th anniversary is not only a celebration of AAR’s milestones but also a pledge to continue our legacy of putting Ugandans in control,” Nassuna said.
Founded initially as a provider of accident and medical evacuation services in Nairobi, Kenya, AAR expanded to Uganda with the mission of empowering Ugandans to take charge of their health. Since then, AAR has served over 50,000 customers, reaching more than 500,000 lives, including individual policyholders and numerous organizations across Uganda. Nassuna highlighted AAR’s ongoing commitment to improving health coverage: “Our commitment is to even do better in more years to come.”
The anniversary event, held at Mestil Hotel, was attended by various stakeholders in Uganda’s insurance sector and was officiated by the regulator, Alhaj Ibrahim Kaddunabbi Lubega. The ceremony also marked the launch of AAR’s campaign, “Tukyaali Mbooko! Teli Kuzikiza,” which translates to “We are still strong; we are not fading.” The campaign underscores AAR’s aim to combine the vitality of a youthful organization with the stability and experience of a seasoned institution.
AAR Insurance’s Chief Operations Officer, Ssebaale Mohammed, explained the campaign as symbolizing AAR’s resilience and growth over the decades. “At 40 years, AAR is young enough to have the energy and enthusiasm of youth but old enough to have the experience and perspective of maturity,” Ssebaale noted. He assured attendees that AAR would continue innovating and refining its services to meet the evolving needs of Ugandans.
Ssebaale also spoke about AAR’s commitment to making healthcare accessible through affordable and comprehensive medical insurance plans tailored for individuals, families, and businesses. He emphasized AAR’s focus on convenience and innovation, which have helped the organization maintain strong customer loyalty. “We have stood the test of time, and through innovations in access and service delivery, our customers have continued to enjoy comprehensive health insurance solutions,” he added.
