Residents of Nteko Ward, Nkuringo Town Council, Bukimbiri County, Kisoro District, have expressed their dissatisfaction with poor network connectivity and inadequate health facilities, which they say have hindered communication and service delivery in the area.

Their concerns come amidst ongoing by-elections campaigns for the Kisoro Woman Member of Parliament seat, following the passing of the late Sarah Nyirabashitsi Mateke.

Justus Ndabateze, Gereva Gahangyire, and John Mujuni, all residents of Nteko Village, Nteko Ward, Nkuringo Town Council, revealed that they feel neglected compared to other areas in Kisoro District, particularly regarding network access, roads, and health services.

The residents pointed out that the limited network coverage has led to social isolation, reduced career opportunities, and increased transport costs for goods.

They are now calling for government intervention to address these issues.

Meanwhile, the Nteko Ward Councilor, who also serves as the Speaker of Nkuringo Town Council, Rwarinda Kamihagyire Damiyano, expressed concern about the imbalanced development within Kisoro District, which has left Bukimbiri—a landlocked constituency—neglected.

He has called for the construction of the Buhoma-Kanungu road to improve accessibility. Rwarinda also revealed that despite repeated promises from political leaders to construct communication masts and establish a health unit in the area, nothing has been done so far.
