In response to the growing number of medical students in the country, who require medical facilities for their training, Dr. John Wakida, Head of Private Medical Schools and Chairman of the National Medical Schools Quality Assurance Committee, has advised medical institutions to construct hospitals within their campuses. He made this recommendation during an event celebrating St. Francis Day at St. Francis School of Health Sciences in Namataba, Mukono district.
Dr. Wakida emphasized the need to address the shortage of training hospitals to ensure that the country produces competent medical professionals capable of combatting emerging diseases. The Principal of St. Francis School Health Professionals Institute, Kiwanuka Bbosa, confirmed that their school is currently in the process of building a hospital on campus to facilitate student practice.
Additionally, during the event, Rev. Fr. Father JC Sserwanda from Namagunga Parish urged students to stay focused on their studies and avoid engaging in sexual activities that could jeopardize their education. He commended the institute’s administration for effectively utilizing the funds that have supported the institute since its establishment.
