Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, the renowned founder and president of the MAAUN Group of Universities, has made a significant contribution to the Islamic University in Uganda. During his visit as a special guest of honor at the university’s 33rd convocation in Mbale, he announced a generous donation of $100,000.
In recognition of his selfless support for the university’s development, Professor Gwarzo was honored with an award of excellence. Presenting the award, the university’s Council Chairman, H.E. Prof. Dr. Muhammad A.S.E.A Altabtabaei from Kuwait, commended Professor Gwarzo for his dedication.
“I was informed by the university management about your contributions. On behalf of the council, I wish to express our deepest gratitude,” Professor Altabtabaei said.
Accepting the award, Professor Gwarzo reaffirmed his commitment to the university’s growth and announced the $100,000 donation.
Professor Ismail Simbwa Gyagenda, the Rector of the Islamic University in Uganda, praised Professor Gwarzo’s generosity and described him as a philanthropist known for keeping his promises. “This donation is significant. On behalf of the students and staff of the Islamic University in Uganda, we sincerely express our appreciation and pray to Allah SWT to bless your wealth,” Professor Gyagenda said.
Professor Gwarzo is the founder of Maryam Abacha American University of Niger and Nigeria, Franco-British International University in Kaduna, and Canadian University of Nigeria in Abuja.
The renowned edupreneur and philanthropist led a 17-man delegation from Nigeria to attend the convocation in Uganda.
Established in 1988, the Islamic University in Uganda is the second-oldest university in the country.
