Inzu Ya Masaba has received items worth 100 million shillings from the Sino Industrial Park in Mbale, meant for the victims of the recent landslides in Bulambuli. The spokesperson for the Bamasaaba Cultural Institution, Steven Masiga, confirmed the receipt of these items, which included 200 mattresses, 50 T-shirts, 80 bed sheets, 200 pairs of jeans, 400 playmats, 70 bed sheets, 10 boxes of sanitary pads, 200 pieces of Bitenge, among other items.

Steven Masiga confirmed that the items were donated to the landslide survivors through Inzuyamasaba, following a formal request from Inzuyamasaba to the management of the Sino Industrial Park in Mbale, Uganda. He said, “The items have been handed over to us, and we are delivering them to our people in Bulambuli today without fail. Allow me to thank the management of the Sino Industrial Park on behalf of the Bamasaaba Cultural Institution. The Umukuka is happy with this gesture from the management of the Sino Industrial Park.”

The items were donated by various factories within the industrial park, including Grace Form Company, Soft Care Company, Wenway Company, Boi Company, Grace Mats Company, Xinilong Company, Rongshen Company, Grace Textile Company, Fascen Company, Wekom Company, and others. Each company within the industrial park contributed something to the survivors through the cultural institution.

The disaster committee of Inzuyamasaba, tasked with mobilizing support by the cultural institution, includes the following officials: Hon. Vincent Woboya (Chairman), Steven Masiga (Spokesperson), Hon. Irene Khainza Manghali, Hon. Priscilla Mungoma, and Hon. Samuel Watulatsu. The disaster committee, on behalf of the cultural institution, expressed appreciation to the Chinese management for their contributions.

Masiga further stated, “Anyone who has read Oliver Twist knows we still need other items for Bulambuli. Other companies must come forward—don’t leave it to the Chinese and Inzuyamasaba alone. Please come and support these efforts.”

Masiga also revealed to The Ankole Times that all the donated items were safely distributed to the beneficiaries yesterday and this morning, after being flagged off by the Umukuka. The distribution was carried out with the help of the Disaster Committee of Inzuyamasaba and UPDF soldiers attached to the cultural institution of the Bamasaaba people. The beneficiaries were briefed on the donations, and many were seen smiling while wearing their new Bitenge clothes or enjoying their new beds.

Priority in the distribution of items was given to the elderly, pregnant women, children, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups. Many of these individuals had been sleeping on the bare ground with little to no bedding.

The affected population includes thousands of people from over 10 sub-counties. Some of the beneficiaries include PWDs such as Nambozo Oliver of Namisuni, Namono Grace, Wolayo Eliza of Buluganya, and Nabutuwa. They instructed us to thank the Umukuka and his friends, the Chinese.

All items were distributed to over 2,000 residents present.
