Prominent politician Justine Kasule Lumumba shared how she used to reserve the entire Club Guvnor for her fellow MPs to celebrate all night during her time in Parliament. This took place when she was appointed as the Government Chief Whip.

In reflecting on this role, she mentioned that it was a seamless transition for her since she was appointed by the President. She described her experience as so free of stress that she always managed to take her fellow young MPs out for club nights.

“Being appointed as the Government Chief Whip was a smooth transition, and it remains the best position the President has ever entrusted to me. I experienced little stress and always felt joyful. On Thursday nights, I would book the club and take the young MPs out dancing,” she remarked.

The former MP also reminisced about her tenure in Parliament. She noted that during her first term as an MP, she was not held accountable since she was new to her constituency. However, her second term proved to be quite challenging because she had to report on her work.

“During my first campaign in 2001, I wasn’t required to provide accountability as I was not the incumbent. However, when I returned in 2006, I had to justify my efforts, which made it a bit tougher than the first time.”

Entering Parliament as a young woman and newcomer, Kasule Lumumba stated that she did not encounter difficulties in the house. This was because she found many colleagues she had studied with at the University there.

When asked about her legacy and how she hopes to be remembered, she expressed her desire to be recognized as a committed member of the NRM who dedicated herself fully to the party.

Additionally, she hopes to be remembered as someone who worked diligently behind the scenes to ensure things got accomplished.
