Bishop Mbitse Urges Kisoro District to Embrace Unity and Collaboration in 2025

The Bishop of Muhabura, Godfrey Mbitse, has called on Christians to embrace unity and collaboration in 2025 to combat sectarianism, religious discrimination, and tribalism in the political arena of Kisoro District.

While presiding over the Kisoro District multi-religious end-of-year and start-of-year prayers held at Shaza Grounds, which was sponsored by Bufumbira East Legislator James Nsaba Buturo, Bishop Mbitse called for unity, partnership, and collaboration among different religions to fight against sectarianism and religious discrimination in Kisoro’s politics in 2025.




Godfrey Mbitse revealed that collaboration breaks down stereotypes, misconceptions, strengthens social bonds, supports peace-building efforts, and fosters empathy by bringing people from different sects together, allowing them to interact and understand each other’s perspectives.




The Bufumbira East Legislator, James Nsaba Buturo, who was the Guest of Honor, called upon Christians to seek spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical refreshment in 2025 to achieve their desired goals and objectives.




Nsaba Buturo condemned divisions and disunity in Kisoro based on religion, culture, and family background. He encouraged open dialogue that leads to conflict resolution skills through collaboration, developing essential conflict resolution skills such as active listening, negotiation, and problem-solving in the year 2025.

Rt. Gen. Kale Kayihura acknowledged Bishop of Muhabura Godfrey Mbitse for encouraging unity in Kisoro District and accused political leaders in Kisoro District of being victims of promoting divisions, religious, and sectarianism-based elections that have affected the development of Kisoro District.

Gen. Kale Kayihura called upon political leaders to be pioneers of unification, collaboration, and to be role models to other people within the community.




The Kisoro District Assistant Resident District Commissioner, Valence Hagumimana, urged Christians to prioritize mindset change in 2025 to eradicate the rising cases of money lenders and land-related conflict issues.

The LC3 Chairperson of Central Division, Kisoro Municipality, Ramanthan Ndikuyeze, acknowledged Bishop of Muhabura and other religious leaders for championing a unified Kisoro District.
