Kisoro Traffic Officer Warns Scrap Dealers Against Road Sign Vandalism

The Kisoro District Traffic Officer, ASP Michael Kushaba, has issued a stern warning to scrap dealers regarding the alarming increase in the vandalism of road signs and guardrails in the district. These vital safety features are crucial for guiding road users and preventing accidents.

In an interview with a local reporter, ASP Kushaba expressed concern over the deteriorating road safety situation due to the rampant destruction of road signs, particularly along the Kabale-Kisoro-Bunagana highway. He strongly condemned the actions of scrap dealers, emphasizing that their activities would inevitably lead to a rise in road accidents.




The traffic officer assured the public that investigations are underway to apprehend those involved in these acts of vandalism. He urged scrap dealers to exercise vigilance and refrain from such illegal activities.




Meanwhile, Keitesi Aisha Nalongo, a scrap dealer with 18 years of experience operating along Mutolere Road in Kamonyi Ward, Northern Division, Kisoro Municipality, called upon her fellow scrap dealers to act responsibly and cooperate with the police to curb the alarming trend of road sign vandalism.




Furthermore, the Traffic Officer at Kisoro Central Police Station, ASP Michael Kushaba, urged all road users to prioritize road signs and strictly adhere to traffic rules as a crucial step towards reducing the high rate of road accidents.

These remarks were made during the installation of a new zebra crossing along the Kisoro-Kabale Road near the Kisoro Old Market in Kisoro Municipality.

ASP Kushaba highlighted the importance of road signs as essential guides for both pedestrians and other road users. He stressed the need for all road users to understand and obey the meaning of these signs to ensure the safety of all road users, particularly pedestrians.
