The National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) in Kisoro District is still grappling with arrears amounting to UGX 755 million from water users in 2025. This figure represents a slight decrease from the over UGX 900 million owed in 2024.
In 2024, the National Water and Sewerage Corporation was demanding over UGX 900 million in arrears. However, to date, the outstanding amount has decreased to UGX 755 million, with UGX 380 million of this owed by customers within Kisoro Municipality.
During an exclusive interview with Engineer Charles Ateker Odeke, the Manager of the National Water and Sewerage Corporation in Kisoro Municipality, at the NWSC headquarters, he revealed that a portion of the arrears was paid during the festive season.
He encouraged water users to continue paying their bills promptly to ensure the continued provision of improved water and sewerage services.
Ateker advised landlords to inform the NWSC office if their tenants refuse to pay their water bills as a means of addressing this challenge.
The NWSC Manager in Kisoro District assured the public that there will be further improvements in water and sewerage services in 2025.
These improvements will include stabilizing production plants and water pumps, with the aim of enhancing customer relationships with the NWSC.
