The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) is set to release the 2024 Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) results on Thursday, 23rd January 2025.
UNEB officials will brief the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Museveni, on the release of the results on Tuesday, 21st January, at State House Nakasero at 2:30 PM.
Following this briefing, the official release date will be confirmed.
A total of 1,320,400 candidates registered for the four national examinations, marking a 7.8% increase in registration compared to the previous year. Female candidates accounted for 51.1% of the total, indicating a slight increase in girls’ access to education.
The Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) exams saw 379,748 candidates sit for the examinations across various centers nationwide. The Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) also witnessed a significant increase in candidature, with a 28.4% rise in registration.
To ensure the smooth marking of the PLE exams, UNEB contracted 7,500 examiners who worked tirelessly at 13 designated centers.
The release of the PLE results is highly anticipated by students, parents, and educators as it marks a significant milestone for students transitioning to secondary education.
The results will also provide valuable insights into the performance of students and schools, informing education policy and interventions.
The board has taken all necessary measures to ensure the integrity and security of the examination process. The Senior One selection exercise will commence after the results are released, with schools selecting candidates based on established cut-off points.
The selection exercise is usually conducted at the Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA) where schools select candidates for their respective schools.
Education officials invited to attend the briefing on the PLE results have been directed to take a COVID-19 test before attending the meeting.
Once released, the results will be accessible through mobile Short Message Service (SMS) and via school examination centers. Hard copies of the results will also be available for collection from the UNEB offices in Ntinda.
