Ugandan MP Carol Kamusiime has been widely praised by women leaders in the Pan-African Parliament (PAP) for her strong leadership in advancing gender equality and combating gender-based violence (GBV) across the continent.
As the 1st Vice President of the PAP Women’s Caucus, Kamusiime has been a vocal advocate for policy reforms that promote women’s empowerment and equal participation in decision-making. She has urged African governments to strengthen laws that protect women’s rights and create opportunities for their political, social, and economic advancement.
Speaking during the International Women’s Day Commemoration in Midrand, South Africa, from March 7 to 11, 2025, Kamusiime highlighted the need for greater investment in women’s development. The event, hosted by PAP in collaboration with the African Union Development Agency–NEPAD, served as a platform for dialogue on gender equality, leadership, and economic inclusion.
Discussions at the event focused on key issues such as career development, access to resources, and breaking barriers to women’s success. Participants emphasized the importance of dedicated funding and programs to ensure women have equitable opportunities in all sectors.

Kamusiime’s leadership and passion for gender equality have earned her widespread recognition, with fellow parliamentarians commending her efforts to steer the women’s caucus toward tangible progress for African women.
