Otuke County MP Hon. Paul Omara Launches 16.9 km Oilseeds Road, Promises Full Support for NRM

March 13, 2025 | Otuke – Otuke County MP Hon. Paul Omara has vowed to win the NRM primary election and urged fellow aspirants for the 2026 elections under NRM to rally behind him as he implements his manifesto.

He made these remarks on Wednesday during the launch of a 16.9 km oilseeds project road at Anik Market, located in Barlako Village, Abongower Parish, Okwang Sub County, Otuke District.




Omara revealed that he has secured three graders from Gulu, along with other equipment, to open and rehabilitate more roads in the area. He also congratulated President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for the prevailing peace in Otuke District and the Lango Sub-region. He praised local leaders in Otuke for always collaborating with him on development issues. Among the guests present at the event were LC1, LC2, LC3 leaders, and Hon. Councilors, as well as DPC ARDC Opio Opeo, LC5 Chairman Otuke Abola Francis, and Otuke Woman MP Susan Abeja.




Omara committed to using his resources in collaboration with the RDC and Otuke District Engineer to rehabilitate and improve more roads in Otuke District. “We are very lucky as the people of Otuke to receive this project, and we have brought this development to our community for their betterment,” stated MP Omara.




He also expressed his appreciation to President Museveni for deploying 12 police officers per sub-county and urged the people of Okwang Sub County to identify a piece of land for the establishment of Okwang Sub County headquarters. In his speech, Omara asked the residents to continue supporting the NRM government under President Museveni, as well as himself, as he will be contesting under the NRM ticket in the upcoming election.

Otuke Resident District Commissioner George Abdul, representing the OPEC Fund for International Development, urged the community to take good care of the road, as well as the fuel and equipment used by the contractor. He emphasized the importance of preventing theft, especially fuel from the graders, and called for close supervision of the road construction process. Abdul also warned the construction team to avoid any illegal activities within the community and stressed the need for local content materials and the recruitment of local labor for the project.

According to Jimmy Alany Mark, the Otuke District Engineer, the oilseeds project roads are expected to be completed within a period of eight months. Joseph Lomongin, the Otuke Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), also urged the local community to fully support the oilseeds road project. He called on the technical team to ensure close monitoring so that the project is completed on time.




The launch of the oilseeds road project comes ahead of the official launch of the oilseeds project, which will soon be rolled out across Otuke District and at least 81 other districts in Uganda.
