The Armed Forces of Ukraine have reported eliminating 1,170 Russian soldiers and destroying 48 cruise missiles in just 24 hours on April 24. The report, confirmed by the General Staff and covered by the Ukrainian National News agency, highlights the escalating cost of the Kremlin’s war.

This brings Russia’s total military personnel losses since the start of the full scale invasion on 24 February 2022 to approximately 946,500. The pace of Russian casualties remains relentless, with over 155,000 Russian soldiers reported eliminated since the start of 2025 alone.

Ukraine’s defensive success was not limited to personnel. Russian military hardware also suffered heavily. Nine tanks, three combat armoured vehicles, and seventy two artillery systems were destroyed within the same day. Ukraine’s forces also brought down 119 unmanned aerial vehicles and three rocket systems used for launching multiple projectiles.
