Cultural and church leaders have pledged to continuously promote the alternative justice system in their communities. Dr. Serwada, the head of Pentecostal churches in Uganda, made this commitment last week in Munyonyo during a national summit on the alternative justice system in Uganda.

The summit was held under the auspices of the Government of Uganda, the International Centre for Law, and the Australian Government.

Speaking on behalf of the Bugisu cultural institution, the spokesperson, Mr. Steven Masiga, also pledged the same commitment. Other leaders, such as Bishop Lwere, echoed similar sentiments.

Spokespersons from the Buganda, Bunyoro, Tororo, and Rwenzururu kingdoms also expressed their support for the promotion of alternative justice systems.

The judiciary, as reported on various occasions by The Ankole Times, is determined to ensure that these informal mechanisms of dispute resolution are given proper recognition and priority.
