11 Officers Transferred in Police Reshuffle

Lira City West Division DPC, SP Omony George Mathew, has been transferred to Sembabule District as the new District Police Commander (DPC). The transfer and other appointments in the North Kyoga Region were announced on Monday afternoon by SP Jimmy Patrick Okema, PRO–North Kyoga Region.

Lira, Uganda — The North Kyoga Police Region has announced a series of transfers and appointments affecting several senior officers, as part of routine restructuring within the Uganda Police Force.

According to North Kyoga Regional Police Spokesperson, SP Jimmy Patrick Okema, the changes aim to strengthen operations and reinforce crime-fighting efforts across the regions.




Below is the list of the affected officers and their new postings:




  1. SSP Mugisa Charles – Transferred from Kwania District and appointed Deputy Regional Police Commander (D/RPC), Wamala Region.

  2. SSP Katumba Christopher Kigundu – Transferred from Amolatar District and appointed D/RPC, Kiira Region.

  3. SP Alida Alison – Transferred from Fort Portal and appointed District Police Commander (DPC), Kwania.

  4. SP Mafabi John – Transferred from Bugiri and appointed DPC, Amolatar.

  5. SP Rwomushana Joram – Transferred from North Kyoga Region and appointed Regional Police Detective (R/PDF), Rwizi Region.

  6. D/SP Magezi Uthman – Transferred from Lira City Central Police Station (CPS) and appointed Regional Legal and Human Rights Officer, Aswa West Region.

  7. SP Omony George Mathew – Transferred from Lira City West Division and appointed DPC, Sembabule.

  8. SP Edatu Cosmas – Transferred from Kumi and appointed DPC, Lira City West Division.

  9. D/ASP Among Gloria – Transferred from North Kyoga Region to Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) East as Regional Staff.

  10. ASP Acaye Moses – Transferred from North Kyoga Region and appointed Officer-in-Charge (OC), Ishasha Police Station, Kanungu District.

  11. ASP Tebesigira Sarah – Transferred from Angetta Police Station in Alebtong and appointed OC, Jinja Masindye Police Station, Mukono District.

SP Okema expressed appreciation to the outgoing officers for their dedicated service in the North Kyoga Region.




“We thank all the officers for their contribution and wish them success in their new assignments. We encourage them to carry forward the crime-fighting spirit they demonstrated in North Kyoga,” SP Okema stated.

He also welcomed the incoming commanders, emphasizing the importance of teamwork and community policing in reducing crime.

“We are a team that believes in collaboration. Together, we can police better and reduce criminal activity,” he added.

Okema also thanked the appointing authorities for entrusting these commanders with their new roles, reiterating that transfers are a normal part of service and align with the strategic intention for all officers to gain experience across different parts of the country.
