The Prophecy Shaking State House: Is Uganda’s Next President a Pastor?

When we speak of prophecy, the mind often turns to pastors, self-proclaimed prophets, or even village sorcerers. But prophecy, some argue, doesn’t always wear a clerical collar sometimes, it marches in military boots.

Lieutenant (Retired) Magufuri Moses Mugisha disciplined, intuitive, holder of a Master’s in Procurement and Logistics Management and a Master of Science in Monitoring and Evaluation, with zero tolerance for corruption and gifted with foresight is one such man. A highly regarded officer in the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), Magufuri is now known not just for his military service, but also for what some call prophetic insight.

His predictions, once whispered among circles of political influence and now surfacing in the public domain, concern nothing less than Uganda’s next presidency and the central figure isn’t who you might expect.

At the center of Magufuri’s prophecy is Pastor Patience Rwabwogo the soft-spoken, prayerful daughter of His Excellency the President of Uganda, and spiritual leader of Covenant Nations Church in Luzira.

The Day a Soldier Gave Up His SUV Key for a Sermon

According to those close to the story, Magufuri was deeply moved by a vision he received from the Holy Spirit earlier this year. Burdened by its weight, he sought a platform to declare it and chose Pastor Robert Kayanja’s pulpit at Miracle Centre Cathedral in Kampala.

But he didn’t come empty-handed.

He handed over the keys to his Land Rover a bold gesture of faith and reverence likened by some to Moses laying down his staff before Pharaoh or parting the Red Sea.

Pastor Kayanja, visibly moved, invited him to speak. What Magufuri revealed sent ripples through both church pews and political circles.

He emphasized that Pastor Patience Rwabwogo is a divine key to Uganda’s peaceful transition and that her counsel to the President is critical to preserving peace, unity, and divine direction. He warned Pastor Kayanja three times: ignoring her role could invite turbulence and risk undermining the achievements of nearly 40 years of the NRM government.

It’s worth noting that Pastor Patience recently initiated Light Up Uganda, a national prayer initiative that brought together pastors and spiritual leaders from across the country. Bishop LaDonna served as the chief guest at the event, which was held at Kololo, and attended by the President and First Lady, who together signed the Light Up Uganda for Jesus declaration a document reaffirming Uganda’s commitment to Christian values and spiritual renewal.

Names of Destiny

Magufuri also revealed other names he said the Holy Spirit highlighted as essential to Uganda’s national transition. They include:

  • Prof. Andrew Lule, son of former President Yusuf Lule
  • Jimmy Akena, son of President Milton Obote
  • Miria Obote, former First Lady
  • Dr. Crispus Kiyonga, veteran statesman and diplomat
  • Pastor Robert Kayanja, himself

He said these individuals should regularly meet, pray, and seek wisdom from God particularly that Pastor Patience be granted the insight to advise the President on a peaceful transition of power.

Interestingly, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba recently mentioned meeting with first sons of former Ugandan presidents an act some now see as aligned with Magufuri’s prophetic message.

Benny Hinn’s Visit: Confirmation or Coincidence?

In a packed service at Miracle Centre Cathedral, world-renowned evangelist Pastor Benny Hinn visited Uganda, drawing thousands including top government officials and the President himself. During the service, Pastor Hinn publicly acknowledged Pastor Patience as playing a significant role in Uganda’s future.

Many in the audience saw this as confirmation a second prophetic stamp echoing Magufuri’s vision.

To others, especially among Uganda’s youth who support Gen. Muhoozi, now the Chief of Defence Forces and First Son, it stirred confusion. Could a pastor even one so close to the First Family truly be a central figure?

Prophecy vs. Politics: Who Will Uganda Choose?

Uganda stands at both a prophetic and political crossroads. The current leadership has delivered a blend of economic progress and criticism over authoritarianism. Some believe continuity lies with Gen. Muhoozi’s military discipline and youth outreach. Others place hope in Bobi Wine’s populist activism.

But now, a growing number are wondering: Could the answer be neither?

Magufuri Mugisha a retired soldier, neither a follower of Pastor Kayanja nor Pastor Patience (whom he last met over 20 years ago), is not a televangelist. Yet, his vision has gone from personal conviction to public discourse. His outspokenness, while often misunderstood, is now hard to ignore.

Will Uganda follow the expected script or will divine disruption rewrite the story?

Only time and perhaps more prophecy will tell.

  • Despite the differences in political opinions among Ugandan people, the one thing every Ugandan share in common is peace.
