The Ecological Party of Uganda (EPU) is facing serious internal turmoil after its founder,Charles Bbaale, was reportedly sidelined in what insiders describe as a “calculated power grab” by Kampala Central MP Hon. Muhammad Nsereko.

Bbaale, who established the party in 2004, is said to be deeply frustrated after Nsereko was fronted as the party’s 2026 presidential flag bearer—a decision Bbaale strongly contests.

According to sources close to the matter, the transition was far from democratic. “That issue was completely left out as if it’s an NRM party. Here in EPU, anyone can contest. There are no automatic privileges,” said a source quoting Bbaale.

The situation has reportedly worsened due to a breakdown in communication. Bbaale alleges that Nsereko has blocked him on WhatsApp and ignored all calls and messages regarding the issue. “He thinks his money matters to us,” Bbaale reportedly told associates, signaling frustration over what he believes is Nsereko using wealth and influence to bulldoze his way through party structures.

Bbaale and his supporters believe that internal party processes have been violated, and insist that any leadership transition or flag bearer selection must follow due process and open competition.

With the 2026 elections drawing closer, this internal crisis raises questions about the unity, transparency, and future of the Ecology Party under Nsereko’s emerging leadership.

More updates are expected as both camps prepare to battle it out over who truly represents the soul of EPU.
