Kabale Muslim District Kadhi, Sheikh Kabu Lule, has issued a strong warning to imams against engaging in partisan politics, stating that such involvement is contrary to Islamic teachings and causes division within the Muslim community.

He made these remarks during a one-day imams’ retreat held at his residence in Kirigime Ward, Kabale Municipality.

Addressing the imams, Sheikh Lule emphasized that their role is to lead all members of the community, regardless of their political affiliations, such as NUP, NRM, or FDC.

He expressed concern that politics have already created significant divisions in the Kigezi sub-region, affecting even interfaith relations.

In his address, Sheikh Lule also took the opportunity to defend Islam against false associations with terrorism, clarifying that the religion does not condone such acts.

He urged the public to judge individuals based on their actions rather than their faith.

The Kadhi also addressed several issues of concern within the Muslim community, including smoking, which he noted is both against Islamic teachings and harmful to one’s health.

He condemned violence among Muslims and called for a more exemplary lifestyle, including a better dress code, to set a positive example for the wider community.
