Peace Amooti Kabasweka had an impressive performance on the first day of the Johnnie Walker Uganda Ladies Open Golf Championship at UGC Kitante, Uganda. She secured a significant lead with her excellent putting skills, finishing the day with a score of 68, four strokes under par.

Kabasweka, who is also the Lady Captain of Toro Club, is yet to claim the top prize in the Ladies golf calendar but is now the player to keep an eye on over the next two days. She expressed her satisfaction with her putting performance, stating, “My putting was key, and my putter was on fire today. Everything for me was perfect, and I hope to maintain this trend tomorrow.”

Iddi Madina Hussein from Tanzania is within striking distance, trailing by five strokes with a score of 73, just one over par. She shared her thoughts on the course conditions, saying, “Today’s round was not easy due to yesterday’s rain, but I’m glad with my game today, although I missed a few short putts on the course. I believe I can do better tomorrow and improve my game.”

Meanwhile, three-time winner Martha Babirye of Uganda struggled with a score of 81, nine over par, as she described her day, “Today, everything just didn’t work out for me; I was just not lucky. I remain positive and need to get my putting right.”
