OYAM DISTRICT, Uganda – Security operatives in Oyam District have arrested a suspected notorious motorcycle thief and two alleged accomplices during a well-coordinated, intelligence-led operation conducted late Tuesday night and into the early hours of Wednesday.

The operation, which took place in Acimi Parish, Myene Sub-county, targeted Moses Ojok, alias “Ojok Makar,” who police say has been operating as part of a criminal gang previously led by Solomon Ongom. Ongom and several of his associates are already on remand at Oyam Prison.

According to a statement released by the North Kyoga Police Spokesman, SP PJ Okema, the raid was led by the District Police Commander, SP Francis Okongo. Ojok was arrested alongside Jimmy Koc and Job Olara.

Authorities also recovered a motorcycle with registration number UGG 749S, which is suspected to have been stolen. The three suspects are currently detained at Oyam Central Police Station, where they face charges of possession of suspected stolen property. Police say inquiries are ongoing to establish further details and uncover any additional accomplices.

In his statement, SP Okema expressed concern over rising cases of motorcycle theft in Oyam District. He reaffirmed the territorial police’s commitment to intensifying intelligence-led operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks in the region.

“Members of the public are encouraged to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by providing any information that may aid in the fight against crime,” Okema said.

Authorities have urged anyone who may have lost a motorcycle matching the recovered bike’s description to report to Oyam Central Police Station as investigations continue.
