Washington Commanders’ left tackle, Charles Leno Jr., was unable to play in the Sunday game against the Atlanta Falcons. This absence was prompted by the distressing news shared by his wife on social media, revealing that she had suffered a miscarriage.

On Sunday morning, Jen Leno posted that their baby girl, Paitynn Maui Leno, had unexpectedly passed away. She described Paitynn’s birth as rapid and determined, much like her older sisters, and expressed gratitude for the outpouring of love and prayers from their support network throughout their journey. Jen Leno concluded her message by bidding farewell to their daughter.

Charles Leno also relayed these posts on his social media profiles. The couple, who already has three daughters, had anticipated the arrival of Paitynn in the upcoming spring.

Before the Commanders’ 24-16 victory, Charles Leno was removed from the lineup due to personal reasons.

Quarterback Sam Howell, in his remarks following the game, expressed sympathy and solidarity with Leno and his family. He acknowledged the difficulty of such news affecting one of their teammates and brothers and assured their support. Leno’s absence was felt during the game, and the team is looking forward to his return, but they understand that family matters surpass football and believe that God will provide strength during this challenging period.
