In 2022, Kenya, renowned for its wildlife and national parks, attracted over 2 million international tourists. Ghana’s tourism sector contributed approximately 6.8% to its GDP in 2021, while Uganda continues to witness a significant increase in tourism arrivals. Nigeria, as Africa’s most populous country, holds immense potential for the growing tourism sector, including car rental services.
Insurance holds a significant influence in travelers’ decisions when choosing a car rental service. A study by the Insurance Information Institute reveals that 62% of respondents consider insurance coverage when making such choices.
Treepz and Octamile have been working on this project for several months, with Octamile playing a pivotal role in making Treepz Care a reality. According to a company brief, Treepz is the first car-sharing marketplace to offer embedded insurance for car rentals on this scale in Africa.

To simplify the insurance adoption process for guests, Treepz has seamlessly integrated guest protection coverage into the booking process, eliminating additional steps for guests to enjoy its benefits.
Hosts can easily choose various policy covers, including host protection, third-party vehicle insurance, and comprehensive vehicle insurance during their onboarding process, either through their host account in the app or by contacting businesses for personalized onboarding.
Treepz Care encompasses various insurance services tailored for both guests and hosts, including guest protection and coverage for accidents, which includes death benefits, permanent disability coverage, and medical expenses.
Hosts are also protected with “Driver accident insurance,” covering accidents, including death, bodily injuries, and disabilities, along with death benefits, permanent disability coverage, and medical expenses.
The program also offers comprehensive insurance, including coverage for own vehicle damage, third-party liability, and theft, with benefits such as repair or replacement in case of an accident and compensation for theft.
Additionally, Treepz Care provides 3rd Party Insurance for vehicle owners, covering third-party accidents, including death, bodily injuries, and disabilities, along with funeral expenses, medical expenses, and compensation for the loss of personal belongings.
