The police have commended the judiciary for delivering double verdicts in two significant cases involving the murder of Maria Nagirinya and Ronald Kitayimbwa, as well as the sacrifice of Isabella Trinity Nakisuyi. On October 25, 2023, High Court Judge Isaac Muwata found Compoliyamu Kasolo guilty of six offenses related to the kidnapping, murder, and aggravated robbery of Maria Nagirinya and Ronald Kitayimbwa. Kasolo received a life sentence. Additionally, Hassan Kisekka, Nasif Kalyango, and Shafik Mpanga were each sentenced to 30 years in prison for their involvement in the crime, accounting for time spent on remand. Isaac Ssenabulya had previously pleaded guilty in the case.

In a separate case in Jinja City, Felista Namaganda, a 28-year-old adult, was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of 4-year-old Isabella Trinity Nakisuyi, the daughter of John Mulodi and Annet Nakisasi. Isabella’s headless body was discovered in a sugarcane plantation in Kakira, Jinja district, and her severed head was found in Wanyamge. Namaganda’s boyfriend, Pastor Joseph Sselubiri, from the Healing and Deliverance Church in Kakira Town Council, was also sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder and an additional 30 years for child trafficking.

The police expressed their gratitude to the public for their trust and patience during the investigation. They also acknowledged the collaborative efforts of various police units, including KMP, Jinja City Police, CID, Flying Squad, Crime Intelligence, CMI, SFC, IT and CCTV teams, General Duties, FFU, and PRO, among others. The police further recognized the exceptional partnership with the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), which led to the successful prosecution and conviction of the suspects. The police fraternity extended their sincere thanks to the Judiciary and the respective High Court Judges for their diligent evaluation of the evidence and conviction of the suspects.
