In Nakasongola District, a Pentecostal pastor from Kampala lost his life while attempting to set fire to items believed to be connected to evil spirits. The incident occurred on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at the residence of Jessica Kyohairwe in Lwabyata Sub County, Nakasongola District.
The deceased, identified as Pastor Daniel Naheirwe, was well-known among his followers for performing acts of burning items suspected to be connected to witchcraft. He had been carrying out such practices for numerous years. The police in Nakasongola District are currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Pastor Naheirwe’s untimely death.
The incident was initially reported as a case of sudden death. Upon receiving the report, the scene of the incident was visited by a team from the crime scene investigation unit. During the investigation, an Itel mobile phone was recovered from the deceased. Statements from relevant witnesses were recorded, and the body was transported to Nakasongola HCIV for a post-mortem examination. Additionally, the police are making efforts to locate the deceased’s relatives, as confirmed by Savannah Regional Police spokesperson, ASP Sam Twiineamazima.
