Bisaka Rallies Hundreds in Bundibugyo for Congo, Somalia Peace Prayers

Bundibugyo, Uganda — The leader of the Faith of Unity, Owobusobozi Bisaka, has led prayers for peace in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Somalia during a three-day religious gathering held in Bundibugyo District.

The event, organised by Faith of Unity believers under the Bundibugyo Bukwenda Diocese in the Rwenzori Sub-region, drew hundreds of followers and attracted participants from neighbouring DR Congo. It focused on promoting peace, unity, and spiritual healing in regions affected by prolonged conflict and instability.

Addressing the congregation at Boma Grounds, Bisaka called for an end to violence in the two countries, urging believers to pray for stability and reconciliation. He also emphasised the importance of unity, hard work, and cooperation with government programmes.

The gathering was marked by testimonies from participants who claimed to have experienced spiritual and physical healing.

Among them was Doreen Akapulira, who said she had long suffered from a recurring illness but reported improvement following prayers at the event.

The three-day programme began with a procession through the town, located about 25 kilometres from the main venue, attracting large crowds of both believers and non-believers. Organisers said the turnout exceeded expectations, with many seeking spiritual guidance and healing.

During the event, more than 200 individuals, including some religious leaders from other denominations, reportedly joined the Faith of Unity.

Bisaka also commissioned over 129 new Bahereza (servants) drawn largely from Uganda and DR Congo, where the faith continues to expand with more than 15 places of worship established.

Leaders from both Uganda and DR Congo, including local government officials and Members of Parliament, attended the gathering, expressing support for the initiative and its message of unity.

Following the Bundibugyo event, Bisaka and his followers are expected to continue their outreach to Ntoroko District as part of ongoing mobilisation and teaching activities.

Observers say such religious gatherings play a significant role in fostering cross-border unity and offering hope to communities affected by conflict, particularly in the Great Lakes region.
