A storm is brewing in the politics of Busoga sub-region, where a powerful NRM Member of Parliament has become the center of controversy, facing allegations of moral misconduct, political manipulation, and abuse of power.

According to sources who spoke to Mulengera News, the MP—whose name is being withheld for legal reasons—has in recent months been linked to a string of scandals involving women, political betrayals, and shady dealings within the ruling party’s local structures.

The trouble reportedly began during the recent NRM primaries, where the MP fell out with the district Woman MP after the two failed to agree on who should hold influence in the district. The situation worsened when the MP allegedly tried to pursue a romantic relationship with the Woman MP, which she rejected—sparking off a political feud that spilled into the party’s primaries.

After the fallout, the MP is said to have turned his support to a former opposition candidate, whom he reportedly helped financially and politically until she defeated the incumbent Woman MP in the primaries. Insiders claim the two later developed a personal relationship, with the MP now said to be renting her apartment and covering her expenses.

Sources further allege that the same woman separated from her husband around the same period—fueling talk that the MP’s influence may have played a part. Reports even suggest that she terminated a pregnancy believed to have been his, though this remains unconfirmed.

Those close to the MP describe him as a man obsessed with control, seeking to dominate politics in his district and surrounding constituencies. The MP, who also serves as the district NRM chairperson, has reportedly used his position to back loyal candidates and sideline those who refuse to take his orders.

Interestingly, despite holding a top NRM office, sources claim he has quietly aligned himself with a National Unity Platform (NUP) candidate ahead of the 2026 elections—reportedly because his preferred NRM flag bearer lost to someone allied to a rival female Minister. Insiders even allege that he has promised to fund the NUP candidate’s campaign.

The MP’s reputation has also been dented by accusations of multiple extramarital relationships. He has been linked to a female legislator from Jinja and several local council leaders in his home district. One of his former personal assistants is said to have fallen out with him after he failed to deliver on a promised parliamentary job.

Former associates recall that his early years in politics were marked by heavy drinking and domestic disputes. His marriage reportedly collapsed after repeated incidents of violence, including one where he allegedly destroyed his wife’s car—an act that led to court intervention.

Beyond his personal life, the MP faces allegations of corruption and misuse of public resources. He is accused of benefiting from inflated road construction contracts in his constituency, with one deal worth UGX 640 million reportedly producing poor-quality work.

Another scandal involves land belonging to a government secondary school, which the MP allegedly tried to sell to a private investor for tile manufacturing. The plan reportedly failed after the LC5 chairperson refused to endorse it, creating yet another rift between the two leaders.

Political observers say the MP’s story is a reflection of a growing culture of moral decline and self-interest among some leaders in Busoga. Once seen as a promising politician, he is now viewed by many as a divisive figure whose ambition has cost him the trust of allies and constituents alike.

As the 2026 elections draw closer, it remains to be seen how the NRM leadership will handle the deepening cracks within its Busoga ranks—and whether the embattled MP can survive the mounting pressure and public scrutiny surrounding his conduct.
