NEBBI — The National Resistance Movement (NRM) campaign task force in Nebbi District has finalized preparations ahead of President Yoweri Museveni’s rally slated for Saturday.

State Minister for Mineral Development and Nebbi Woman MP flag bearer, Phiona Nyamutoro, confirmed that mobilization at all levels has been successfully completed to ensure a massive turnout.

“We’ve just held our final meeting with sub-county NRM chairpersons and local leaders to streamline mobilization and emphasize punctuality since the rally will take place in the morning,” Nyamutoro told journalists on Friday.

She added that Nebbi is ready to demonstrate its unwavering support for President Museveni.

“We want to send a clear message — Nebbi stands firmly behind the President. Tomorrow is not just a rally; it’s a celebration of his legacy and our continued trust in his leadership,” she said.

Nyamutoro emphasized that the President’s visit is primarily a gesture of appreciation to thank the district for its consistent support over the years.

“He’s not coming here to campaign but to thank his people for the loyalty and love they’ve always shown him,” she added.

Highlighting some of the key achievements under the NRM government, Nyamutoro cited improved infrastructure and energy access.

“For over two decades, Nebbi had no ministerial representation, but today we are proud to have one. Last year, the President commissioned the Nebbi substation, officially connecting West Nile to the national grid,” she noted.

She also pointed to the government’s commitment to upgrading the Nebbi–Goli Road (16km) and developing an industrial park at Omvoro Village in Nyaravur Sub-county, which she said will spur industrial growth in the region.

“With the industrial park, agro-processing facilities, and other upcoming projects, Nebbi is on its way to becoming a hub of transformation in West Nile,” she said.

Nyamutoro further urged for greater investment in health and education, calling for Nebbi General Hospital to be elevated to a regional referral facility and for increased funding for schools.

“We are also glad that the President is reviewing the Parish Development Model to make it more impactful. Once we strengthen empowerment, health, and education, Nebbi will be unstoppable,” she remarked.

As Minister for Mineral Development, Nyamutoro revealed that new mineral deposits have recently been discovered in the district, which government plans to develop for the benefit of the local population.

Padyere County MP Isaac Otimgiu also expressed confidence that Nebbi will set a new standard in mobilization.

“We’ve seen strong turnouts in other regions like Lango, but Nebbi is going to raise the bar even higher. Mobilization has been done through all structures — PDM groups, youth and women leagues, and NRM grassroots networks,” he said.

Otimgiu assured the NRM secretariat that the rally would draw huge crowds and reflect the district’s commitment to the ruling party.

He further highlighted ongoing infrastructure improvements within Nebbi Municipality.

“Nebbi is the mother district to Pakwach and Zombo, and although development once seemed to favor them, we are now catching up. Most of our urban roads have been tarmacked under the urban roads program, and more — like the Nyee–Nebbi and Nebbi–Tuarua roads — are being upgraded,” he said.

“We’re confident these projects will boost urban growth and make Nebbi a model district in the region,” he added.

President Museveni is expected to address residents of Nebbi on Saturday morning as part of his ongoing nationwide campaign tour.
