Residents from Lamac South, Central, North, West, and surrounding areas including Laming, Juklebi Central and West, Langole, and Langole B voiced growing frustration with leaders who have failed to deliver on their promises. The sentiments were shared during a community meeting attended by Engineer Raymond Luwita, who is seeking the NRM flag for the 2026 elections on Friday, May 2, 2025.
Many locals expressed deep disappointment with both past and current leaders, accusing them of making empty promises and disappearing after securing votes. “We elect them, but they never return. They forget everything they pledged,” lamented one elder woman, who said she no longer views elections as meaningful.
Another resident drew parallels with biblical times, criticizing leaders for manipulating voters under the guise of service. “They speak well during campaigns, but once in power, they don’t walk the talk,” he said.
David Odong, a blind resident, admitted he had lost hope in the voting process but was encouraged by Luwita’s message. “I never wanted to vote again, but I will come 2026,” he said, urging the aspirant to keep engaging with the people.
Olal Charles emphasized that leadership is a calling but said many in power don’t lead with godly values. Ogenga David of Bolo urged voters to choose leaders like Luwita, who he said has a verifiable track record in government over the past two decades.
Engineer Luwita pledged to run an honest campaign. “I will not lie to voters. I will only pledge what I can fulfill,” he said. He also quoted a Luo proverb: “Ngat ma opeti lar kwac, yin bene omito ipet lar kwac bote,” meaning “If someone has done good to you, you should also do good to them.” The proverb, he explained, emphasizes the importance of humility and listening to the people.
He urged voters to remain prayerful and intentional in choosing leaders who serve with integrity, adding that while supporting the ruling party ensures smoother service delivery, voters must prioritize character and capability above party lines.
Eng Raymond Luwita is set to battle out the incumbent Christopher Komakech (Independent) under NRM party primaries, and whoever go through, will face Samuel Odonga-otto, former Aruu County MP who was MP for two decades.
