Museveni Urges Kiryandongo Residents to Embrace Wealth Creation on Bunyoro subregion trail

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has encouraged the people of Kiryandongo District to focus on wealth creation as the National Resistance Movement (NRM) continues its nationwide campaigns.

Speaking to residents, the President reflected on the transformation of Bweyale Town, recalling a time when it was “only a bush with three shops.” He said he first passed through the area as people from Acholi were fleeing conflict and advised them to settle and rebuild their lives — a decision he believes contributed to the town’s growth and diversity today.

Museveni also presented the NRM Manifesto and highlighted the party’s achievements over the years.

He reminded the community that development begins at home and urged families not to “work only for the stomach,” but to engage in income-generating activities. According to the President, prosperity comes from commercial agriculture, services, hospitality, boda boda transport, and tourism.

He encouraged households with small pieces of land to follow the four-acre model, growing coffee, food crops, and keeping poultry or pigs. Those living near water bodies were advised to consider fish farming. Families with larger land were urged to venture into tea, cotton, sugarcane, or livestock keeping.

“Household wealth is the foundation of development,” Museveni emphasized.
