Jeremiah Kioni, the Secretary General of the Jubilee Party, has denied the existence of a planned tour in the Mt Kenya region organized by former President Uhuru Kenyatta. Kioni, speaking to Kenyans.co.ke on Thursday, stated that he had no information about the widely circulated plans.

The reports in question, which claim that the former Head of State intended to hold a tour in his home region in November to express gratitude for their support during his ten-year tenure, were addressed by the Jubilee Secretary General. These reports also suggested that former Prime Minister Raila Odinga would accompany Uhuru during the tours.

“I am not privy to this,” Kioni asserted.

Local press attempted to seek clarification from the Office of the 4th President of Kenya regarding the reports but received no response as the communications officer failed to reply to calls and texts.

The reports about Uhuru’s tour in his home region emerged on Wednesday and quickly spread across various social media platforms.

These speculations appeared two days after former First Lady Margaret Kenyatta made her first public appearance at the Annual Round Square International Conference (RSIC) hosted by Brookhouse Schools.

Uhuru Kenyatta’s most recent public appearance was on August 5, when he visited President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda in his role as a peace envoy for the Democratic Republic of Congo. During their meeting, they discussed the escalating tensions in eastern DRC and the progress of peace talks between rival parties.

In Kenya, his last public appearance was on Monday, July 24, when he held a private meeting with media editors at his Caledonia home near the State House. During this meeting, he addressed the police investigation at his eldest son Jomo Kenyatta’s home, concerning the alleged illegal possession of weapons. He also mentioned his plans for a holiday in the United Kingdom with his family, emphasizing the need for rest.

While his current whereabouts remain unknown, his political allies, including Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka, have affirmed that he is well and maintains communication with the Azimio top leadership.
