The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has announced adjustments in fuel prices, which will be effective from October 15 to November 14. These price changes impact Super Petrol, Diesel, and Kerosene.
Here are the updated fuel prices in Kenya:
Fuel Type | Previous Price (Ksh) | New Price (Ksh) |
---|---|---|
Super Petrol | 211.64 | 217.36 |
Diesel | 200.99 | 205.47 |
Kerosene | 202.61 | 203.06 |
EPRA attributed these price increases to the rising costs associated with importing refined petroleum products. In Nairobi, Super Petrol, Diesel, and Kerosene will be available at Ksh217.36, Ksh205.47, and Ksh203.06 per litre, respectively, for the next 30 days starting from midnight.
Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru, Eldoret, and Mandera will also witness varying fuel prices, with Mandera experiencing the most significant increase.
Here’s a summary of the prices in these cities:
City | Super Petrol (Ksh) | Diesel (Ksh) | Kerosene (Ksh) |
---|---|---|---|
Nairobi | 217.36 | 205.47 | 203.06 |
Mombasa | 214.3 | 202.41 | 201.99 |
Kisumu | 217.12 | 205.64 | 205.22 |
Nakuru | 216.35 | 204.88 | 204.56 |
Eldoret | 217.12 | 205.65 | 202.22 |
Mandera | 231.36 | 219.47 | 219.06 |
EPRA clarified that the increase in fuel prices was primarily due to the rise in landed costs. Additionally, the Petroleum Development Levy (PDL) was taken into account when determining the October prices. Without any subsidies, Super Petrol would have seen an even more substantial increase of Ksh8.79 per litre, while Diesel and Kerosene would have increased by Ksh16.12 and Ksh12.05 per litre, respectively.
