Kampala, Uganda — Public discussion continues to grow following ongoing investigations and searches at properties linked to former Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among.
Reports indicate that a joint investigations team is documenting items recovered from the premises as part of wider inquiries into alleged financial and administrative matters.
Amid the searches, social media has seen a wave of commentary and unverified claims about what investigators should examine. One widely circulated statement alleged:
“They should not only zero in on money, cars and houses but also because we never know she might have even sneaked rare species of cockroaches from the UK using parliamentary budget without approval from the Uganda Wildlife Authority, and that will be another case that the Uganda Wildlife Authority will also take on and charge her with illegal possession of wildlife species.”
Authorities have not confirmed these claims, and no official report has indicated such findings. Investigators have instead urged the public to rely on verified information as the process continues.
The developments have triggered mixed reactions across the country, with some individuals in Teso expressing strong political opinions about the former Speaker, while others have called for restraint and respect for due process.
Officials involved in the operation have not released detailed findings, noting that the process remains ongoing and that official conclusions will be communicated at the appropriate time.
