On Uganda’s 62nd Independence Day, Dr. Kizza Besigye, a prominent political figure and former leader of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Party, urged the nation to reassess its commitment to essential services.
In an interview with NBS television, he expressed concern that the government has shifted away from the key priorities that guided the country at the time of its independence.
Dr. Besigye emphasized the critical importance of health and education services, noting that these sectors are fundamental to the well-being of Ugandans.
He reminded citizens that the sacrifices made by those who fought for independence were rooted in the hope of securing better opportunities for future generations.
He called on Ugandans to demand improvements in healthcare and education, arguing that advancements in these areas are crucial for national development.
Dr. Besigye’s comments resonate with a growing sentiment among citizens who are reflecting on the nation’s progress since independence and questioning whether the current leadership is meeting its obligations to the populace.
