The Speaker of Parliament, Anita Annet Among, has issued a stern warning to opposition legislators currently boycotting parliamentary sittings. Among threatened to invoke Parliamentary rules of procedures, potentially leading to the expulsion of those absent.

Despite the warning, the opposition appears undeterred, stating that they officially communicated their reasons for their absence to the Speaker.

The government has committed to responding to opposition demands on November 21, 2023. The ongoing absence of opposition MPs from parliamentary sessions has raised tensions, with the Speaker’s warning signaling a potential escalation in the standoff between the government and the opposition.
