Entebbe, Uganda – The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, chaired a meeting of the UPDF Joint Staff Committee, a high-level leadership team within the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF).
The Joint Staff Committee is composed of the CDF, Deputy CDF, Service Chiefs, Division Commanders, and Chiefs of Staff from various UPDF services.
This high-level meeting is held regularly, convening at least once a month.
During the meeting, UPDF leaders discussed matters concerning national security and external operations.
The session took place at the Special Forces Command (SFC) Headquarters in Entebbe.
Generals in attendance included:
- Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba – Chief of Defence Forces (CDF)
- Lt Gen. Sam Okiding – Deputy CDF and Inspector General
- Lt Gen. Kayanja Muhanga – Commander Land Forces
- Lt Gen. Charles Okidi – Air Force Commander
- Lt Gen. Jack Bakasumba – Chief of Joint Staff
- Maj Gen. David Mugisha – SFC Commander
- Maj Gen. Richard Otto – Chief of Defence Intelligence and Security
The leaders assessed the current national security situation and reviewed ongoing international deployments, including operations in the Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Somalia, and South Sudan.
The meeting reaffirmed the UPDF’s commitment to maintaining stability within Uganda and supporting regional peace efforts.
