Christians in Rubirizi Pay Tribute to Rev. Fr. Paolino Tamaino’s 66 Years of Service

RUBIRIZI, Uganda — Christians at Kyamuhunga Catholic Parish in Rubirizi District have paid tribute to the late Rev. Fr. Paolino Tamaino, remembering him as a dedicated servant of God who devoted his life to uplifting both the Church and the community.

The parish priest, Rev. Fr. Ayebare Arikanjero of Kyamuhunga Catholic Parish, praised the late priest for his tireless service and commitment to fighting poverty, immorality, corruption, and indiscipline within the community. He also commended Fr. Tamaino for promoting moral values and encouraging modest dressing and responsible behavior among Christians.

Rev. Fr. Ayebare made the remarks during a memorial thanksgiving Mass organized by Kyamuhunga Catholic Parish together with friends and community members to celebrate the life and legacy of the late priest. The event highlighted Fr. Tamaino’s significant contributions in promoting education, improving health services, and empowering communities through savings initiatives and sports programs.

He urged Christians to continue the legacy of love, discipline, respect, and compassion demonstrated by the late priest. According to him, people should strive to do good deeds while still alive so that they are remembered positively even after they pass on.

Rev. Fr. Ayebare further encouraged believers to emulate Fr. Tamaino’s hardworking spirit and commitment to improving household incomes. He noted that the late priest was passionate about development, valued time management, and did not tolerate any form of indiscipline.

Rev. Fr. Paolino Tamaino was born on November 4, 1937, in Italy and passed away on March 3, 2024. He served the Church for 66 years and was laid to rest at Kyamuhunga Catholic Parish.

Rev. Fr. Tumuhaise Felix, the head teacher of St. Mary’s Vocational School Kyamuhunga and a close friend of the late priest, said remembering Fr. Tamaino’s good works brings great joy to the community. He noted that the priest supported government efforts aimed at improving the welfare of the people.

He added that Fr. Tamaino played a key role in fighting poverty, illiteracy, and domestic violence while promoting education and eliminating ignorance within the Church and the wider community. He described him as a faithful and devoted servant who diligently fulfilled the mission entrusted to him by God.

Meanwhile, Hon. Kyatuhire Jackline, the National Deputy Treasurer, together with Fr. Belto Franco, said the death of Fr. Tamaino was a great loss not only to the Church but also to the government and the community. They noted that the late priest contributed significantly to development by supporting initiatives that addressed poverty and ignorance and by establishing important community projects.

They thanked Fr. Tamaino for improving education and health standards and for his strong spirit of solidarity with the people he served in many Catholic parishes. They also encouraged Christians to continue honoring his legacy by supporting the construction and development of churches, schools, and hospitals in the community.

The memorial thanksgiving Mass attracted Christians, local leaders, and community members who gathered to celebrate the life of a priest remembered for his deep faith, service, and commitment to community transformation.
