Mob Lynches Suspect in UGX 50 Million Fort Portal Armed Robbery

(Fort Portal) – On November 14, 2024, a daring armed robbery unfolded at Buguma & K.I Motorcycle Spares Enterprise in Kisenyi-Mugunu Cell, Fort Portal City. A group of eight attackers, armed with a rifle, targeted businesswoman Kezaabu Irene and her employees, making off with UGX 50 million after issuing death threats.

The robbery took place at 7:30 PM. The assailants stormed the premises and demanded money at gunpoint. Out of fear for their lives, the victim and her staff handed over the cash. The group fled the scene immediately after securing the stolen funds.




Following the incident, local police were alerted and launched an immediate response. Meanwhile, residents in the area captured one of the suspects, identified only as “Kanyankore.” An angry mob subsequently lynched him before police could intervene.




Acting on intelligence reports, police tracked another suspect, identified as Businge Abdul alias Vinner, who had boarded a bus heading toward Kampala. Mubende Police intercepted the bus and successfully arrested Businge. During the arrest, part of the stolen money was recovered, though the exact amount retrieved has not been disclosed.




Efforts are underway to locate the remaining members of the robbery gang. Police have assured the public that investigations are ongoing and emphasized the importance of community vigilance and cooperation in preventing such incidents.
