Police in Kakumiro district have arrested a primary school teacher, Robert Nkumire, for allegedly sodomizing a 17-year-old male pupil of Busanga Primary School.
According to Albertine region police spokesperson Julius Allan Hakiza, the incident occurred on November 8, 2023. Nkumire allegedly asked the victim if he had ever used a condom before. After the victim denied it, Nkumire instructed him to come to his house at a later time.
Later that evening, Nkumire sent the cook to call the boy to his home in Kasambya. At around 7 PM, Nkumire allegedly drove the boy to his home and sodomized him.
The victim reported the incident to his school head teacher the next day, who advised him to wait until after the Primary Leaving Exams (PLE) to report the matter to his parents.
Hakiza revealed that Nkumire is a habitual offender and was previously arrested for sodomizing another boy in 2022 from Kirasa Primary School in Kakindo Sub County. However, he was later released.
The suspect is currently detained at Kakumiro Central Police Station.
