Following his arrest on February 17, 2024, Ibrahim Musana, a 27 year-old Ugandan TikToker known as Pressure Pressure, is currently detained by the Directorate of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Kibuli. Musana faces multiple criminal charges, including defamation, promoting hate speech, and incitement to violence, among others, stemming from his online attacks against the Kabaka (King) of Buganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi, and other kingdom officials.

The arrest came after Musana allegedly utilized various social media platforms, including TikTok, WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube, to launch a campaign of abuse against the Kabaka and Buganda Prime Minister (Katikkiro), Charles Peter Mayiga, among other officials. Police spokesperson Mr. Fred Enanga confirmed that Musana’s actions constituted hate crimes, incitement of violence, and defamation against the Buganda Kingdom.

Upon his apprehension, Musana was transferred to the CID in Kibuli for processing on charges related to misuse of social media platforms, hate speech, dissemination of malicious information under the Computer Misuse Act, and incitement to violence. Authorities are in the process of transcribing over 50 videos containing anti-Kabaka sentiments, described as vulgar, abusive, hostile, and defamatory, as evidence against Musana.

Mr. Enanga emphasized the discontent among many people in Buganda regarding Musana’s offensive remarks, which were deemed disrespectful and embarrassing to the Kabaka and other kingdom officials. This incident marks another case of a TikToker facing legal repercussions for misusing the platform. In the past, individuals have been arrested for various offenses, including falsely claiming involvement in criminal activities, sexual abuse, and offensive communication.
