Uganda’s Weekly Weather Forecast (October 10–17, 2023)

Uganda is set to experience wetter conditions than usual, as indicated in the weekly rainfall forecast for October 10–17, 2023, provided by the IGAD Climate Prediction and Applications Centre (ICPAC).




ICPAC, a network collaborating with national meteorological organizations including the Uganda National Meteorological Authority (UNMA), has forecasted above-average rainfall for various regions.




According to ICPAC’s report, the following regions are expected to witness wetter conditions:

Southern Ethiopia Wetter than Usual
Northern and South-Eastern South Sudan Wetter than Usual
Most Parts of Uganda Wetter than Usual
Rwanda Wetter than Usual
Burundi Wetter than Usual
Northern Tanzania Wetter than Usual
Most Parts of Somalia Wetter than Usual

 

While the forecast predicts wetter conditions, the expected rainfall levels fall within the range of 50–200 mm.




Additionally, ICPAC’s report indicates that moderate rainfall, within the range of 50–200 mm, is anticipated in the following areas:

Rwanda Moderate Rainfall
Uganda Moderate Rainfall
Most Parts of South Sudan Moderate Rainfall
Somalia Moderate Rainfall
Parts of North-Western Tanzania Moderate Rainfall
Central to Southern Ethiopia Moderate Rainfall
Western Kenya Moderate Rainfall

 

Apart from increased rainfall, the upcoming week in Uganda is also expected to bring warmer temperatures. ICPAC’s report suggests moderate to high temperatures, ranging from 20°C to 32°C, in the following regions:

Sudan Moderate to High Temperatures
Northern and Eastern Kenya Moderate to High Temperatures

 

Dr. Bob Ogwang, the acting executive director of the Uganda National Meteorological Authority (UNMA), has confirmed the onset of these weather conditions in various parts of Uganda. He encourages the public to stay informed by monitoring monthly updates and the 10-day weather statements.
